​Dietlinde Turban Maazel

Mussolini and I, a 4 hour docu-drama, aired on HBO in September 1985 and was also shown internationally as a movie. Most of the film is based on the diaries of Count Galeazzo Ciano, the son-in-law of Mussolini, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins.

 

Dietlinde Turban Maazel stars as Felicitas Beetz, born as Hildegard Burkhardt, a young German agent who visited Galeazzo in prison, sent by Hitler on a mission to retrieve Ciano’s diaries.  Having fallen in love with Ciano Felicitas abandons her mission and tries to help Ciano to get escape to Switzerland.  Her plot fails and Ciano is shot by command of his father-in-law, Mussolini.
